Acupuncture and IVF Pregnancy Success Rates

Is acupuncture effective on pregnancy success rates for women undergoing in vitro fertilization ( IVF)?

Infertility is a growing concern with increasing numbers of couples experiencing difficulties conceiving naturally.

A study investigated the effect of acupuncture on pregnancy success rates applied before and after embryo transfer among women undergoing IVF.

72 infertile women undergoing IVF were grouped half for acupuncture and half no acupuncture.

The acupuncture group received three sessions of acupuncture, the first was one week before embryo transfer, the second was 30 minutes before embryo transfer, and the third was 30 minutes after embryo transfer.

The studies finding were clinical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy and live birth rates were higher in the acupuncture group.
